Scholarship for African Students at Carleton University

Carleton University a comprehensive University in Canada’s capital Ottawa, Ontario is offering a scholarship opportunity to students from African countries. The scholarship which is worth $5,000 is offered to outstanding international students from Africa.
The scholarship award which was endowed in 2005 by friends, family, and colleagues is in honor of Carlton’s 10th President, Richard J. Van Loon.
Course Level: Eligible recipients will be full-time students proceeding from one year to another in any program of study at Carleton University
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in any of the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Award:

The Richard J. Van Loon Scholarship, valued at $5,000 for the 2017/2018 academic year, is awarded annually to an outstanding international student from an African country.
Number of Scholarships: Two scholarships will be awarded.
Scholarship can be taken in Canada

Eligibility:

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
  • You must be a citizen of an African country. 
  • You must be an international student, who is required to have a valid Study Permit for Canada.
  • You must be registered as a full-time student at Carleton University and be successfully proceeding from one year to another in any program of study.
  • You must be in good academic standing.

Nationality: 

Students from African countries (Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Western Sahara, Zambia and  Zimbabwe) are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.
English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
How to Apply: Applications should be sent via post.
Application Deadline: The deadline to apply is November 15, 2017.
